Environment
The setup in the late morning through afternoon hours was favorable for strong to severe storms. A warm front lifted north across our CWA in the late morning hours, providing moisture and warm air advection, making for an increasingly favorable environment for storms to develop. Surface based CAPE was between 100-500 J/kg south of US-30. 0-3 km Storm Relative Helicity in the early afternoon hours was greatest (up to 500 m2/s2) in the far southeast portion of our CWA, indicating that there was a favorable environment for rotation in storms that did develop. As for the upper air analysis, mid level lapse rates show good support for instability in the atmosphere.
