Flooding Across North-central Indiana

Overview

A cold front was draped across the northwestern portion of the forecast area while moisture, augmented by tropical depression Cindy, flowed into the region from the south.

Training cells, stalling boundaries and efficient warm rain processes allowed heavy rain to cause flooding across the forecast area.

WPC surface analysis showing the cold front draped across the northwest portion of the lower Great Lakes and the location of TD Cindy as of 8AM this morning.	8AM location of the low level jet (red fill and longer vectors) and the position of TD Cindy (enclosed circle) helping to stream moisture towards the area.	Precipitable water values (at 8AM) indicating rainfall potential over the area. Values around 2" were observed this morning, which is right near the day max for today.	Very high low level mean relative humidity and some instability contributed to precipitation today (at 8AM).
