...A VERY COOL AUGUST CAPS OFF A COOL SUMMER SEASON...
THE SUMMER OF 2004 WILL BE REMEMBERED AS COOL AND WET IN NORTHERN
INDIANA. METEOROLOGICAL SUMMER IS DEFINED AS THE MONTHS OF
JUNE...JULY...AND AUGUST. THIS YEAR THESE THREE MONTHS WERE
CHARACTERIZED BY A PERSISTENT TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE OVER THE
EASTERN HALF OF NORTH AMERICA WHICH BROUGHT MUCH COOLER THAN NORMAL
TEMPERATURES TO NORTHERN INDIANA. IN ADDITION TO THE COOL AIR THIS
PATTERN ALSO BROUGHT FREQUENT SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS TO THE
REGION.
