Bering Sea Storms in Alaska; Multi-Day Heavy Rain Event in the Southern Plains and Southwest

A series of Bering Sea storms will impact western Alaska this week, with elevated water levels, isolated coastal flooding, high surf, erosion, and strong winds. Heavy rain and snow are also expected along the West Coast into Interior Alaska. May 21, 2004 High Wind Event

These radar pictures show the powerful squall line that brought damaging thunderstorm wind gusts to much of the region. A person was killed when a tree fell on a car at 12:15pm in Coloma. Two more people were killed in the same way at 1:00pm in Sturgis and also three miles north of Colon. Three Rivers experienced 78mph winds at 12:41pm.

Hail one inch in diameter was reported one mile northwest of Fort Wayne at 1:45pm and in Decatur at 2:27pm.
