Severe Thunderstorms in the East Sunday; Excessive Heat Lingers in the Southern U.S. and Returning to California

Scattered damaging winds from severe thunderstorms will be possible across parts of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic States Sunday. Excessive heat will continue over the southern U.S. Sunday before another round of heat arrives Monday through the central and southern U.S. spreading into the East by Independence Day. Unroofed home.  Used to have a front porch anchored in cement...porch blew up and over the home into the back yard.  Damage estimate was placed at $5,000.  Nobody was hurt.

The debris here is the front porch that was torn from the front of the home and dropped in the back yard.

The wind tore an apple tree from the ground, which then bounced off the gravel driveway producing the large divot you see here, and came to rest in the background of the picture about 40 feet from where it had been standing before the storm.
