Pacific Storms Continue to Impact the West; Severe Thunderstorms Forecast Thursday in the South

A series of Pacific storm systems will continue to impact the Northwest U.S. into this coming weekend with periods of gusty winds, high surf, low elevation rain, and heavy mountain snow. Here is a storm timeline depicting our active weather through the holiday week. Dry weather today with additional waves of precipitation after Christmas Day.
A Winter Weather Advisory will be 10 PM tonight until Noon Friday for the Sierra Nevada Range above 6000 feet. Moderate snow is expected. Remember to check the forecast and road conditions if you have holiday travel plans in the mountains!
A weather system will bring moderate to locally heavy precipitation Thursday and Friday, with the highest amounts expected across the northern Sacramento Valley, foothills and mountains. Expect ponding of water on roads and slick roads. Longer than normal commute. Rises on creeks, rivers, and streams.
Moderate travel impacts from moderate to heavy snow Thursday and Friday. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 10 inches are expected above 6000 feet, locally higher over peaks. Slick roads, chain controls, and travel delays are expected.
