ROADS TURNED SLIPPERY SUNDAY ACROSS THE SOUTHERN PLAINS REGION OF
WEST TEXAS AS A CANADIAN COLD FRONT MET UP WITH AN UPPER LEVEL
DISTURBANCE PASSING OVERHEAD. A LIGHT GLAZE OF ICE EARLY SUNDAY
WAS FOLLOWED BY LIGHT SNOW MOSTLY JUST UNDER AN INCH. BUT HEAVIER
SNOW OF 2 TO 4 INCHES FELL ACROSS THE EXTREME SOUTHERN TEXAS
PANHANDLE AND PARTS OF THE NORTHERN SOUTH PLAINS AND NORTHERN
ROLLING PLAINS.

BY SUNDAY EVENING...THE SNOW WAS DEPARTING. HOWEVER TEMPERATURES
THAT WERE ALREADY IN THE UPPER TEENS TO MID 20S PLUMMETED INTO
SINGLE DIGITS AND TEENS OVERNIGHT AND PROLONGED ICY ROAD
CONDITIONS THROUGH MONDAY MORNING. MANY AREA SCHOOLS WERE FORCED
TO START LATE AS A RESULT. THE MULESHOE 2SSW WEST TEXAS MESONET
STATION DROPPED TO MINUS ONE DEGREE WHILE FRIONA 2NE WAS ZERO.
