Heavy Rainfall for the Mid-Atlantic; Heat and Wildfire Concerns for the West

Slow moving showers and thunderstorms may result in flash flooding for portions of the mid-Atlantic region today into tonight. Meanwhile, excessive heat will continue to build across the West through Tuesday. Heat Advisories and Extreme Heat Warnings are in effect. Hot temperatures between 100 and 110 across the interior continues today and Monday. Heat Advisories and Extreme Heat warnings remain in effect through Monday. Slightly cooler temperatures are possible by Tuesday or Wednesday.
Hotter weather is on the way in the interior through early next week. Limit outdoor activities, drink plenty of water, wear light clothing, wear sunscreen and work outdoors early in the day or late in the evening. Heat will continue to radiate from objects such as concrete and asphalt even after the sun sets. Wear plenty of sunscreen (SPF 30) to protect your skin from the UV rays.
Isolated thunderstorms are possible in northern Trinity County this afternoon and evening. Remember, lightning can strike without any warning. When thunder roars, go indoors!
