Overview

A well developed low pressure system tracked across lower Michigan on Monday bringing a long duration of wintry precipitation to the area. Enough warm air was pulled up into the region to result in several hours of a rain/freezing rain/ice pellet mix through most of the area before enough cooling occurred to switch it over to snow.  A glaze of ice was seen across much of the area before the changeover happened.  A Winter Weather Advisory was issued for much of SE MI for this combination of ice and snow. In the end up to around 4 inches of snow fell in parts of the Saginaw Valley and northern Thumb with decreasing amounts toward the Ohio border where only a trace was observed.
