Tornado Database Information Gathering Project

National Weather Service Meteorologists are currently gathering information on past tornado events across the entire state of Alabama. This data will be added to the ever growing Tornado Database. This information is not only a historical record but will add to the general knowledge base of tornadoes that have formed in Alabama. Our historical record is incomplete. We need additional pictures, personal accounts, or stories on events that took place in Alabama. Your research will be recognized when we add the storm information to the particular event. This additional information will add significant value to severe weather climatology, preparedness, and tornado safety. In the future, it may also help with tornado forecasting and the tornado warning process.
