Lake-effect Snow and Whiteout Conditions in the Great Lakes Region; Below-average Temperatures in the East

Heavy lake-effect and lake-enhanced snow will persist downwind of the Great Lakes and produce some whiteout conditions that could cause difficult travel conditions. A coastal low will produce moderate to heavy snow over parts of southern and eastern New England into the afternoon. A Cold Weather Advisory has been issued for the region until Tuesday morning at 10 AM for wind chill values as low as 15 degrees below zero expected. Cold wind chills could result in hypothermia is precautions aren't taken. Dress in layers if you must go outside.
Wind gusts between 30 to 40 MPH out of the west are expected during the day on Monday, peaking during the afternoon hours. Winds decrease Monday evening. Strong winds combined with cold air temperatures will result in wind chill (feels like) values in the negatives to near zero.
