Atmospheric River in the Pacific Northwest and Northern Rockies this Weekend

A Pacific storm and atmospheric river will impact the Pacific Northwest states and northern Rockies this weekend, bringing locally heavy low elevations rain and heavy high elevation snow in the mountains. Freezing Rain/Ice

During the late evening hours on February 24th into the early morning hours on February 25th, a solid shield of precipitation moved through the region. With surface air temperatures still below freezing for many locations near/north of I-70, this precipitation fell as freezing rain, accreting on all surfaces, especially elevated ones such as trees and powerlines. Further south, it was just warm enough to be just plain rain.
