...SUMMARY...

IN AN UPDATE TO THE EARLIER REPORTED TORNADO IN PORTIONS OF
SOUTHERN PENDLETON COUNTY, A REVIEW OF AERIAL IMAGERY HAS RESULTED
IN AN UPDATE TO THE STARTING LOCATION AND TIME OF THIS TORNADO.
THIS TORNADO BEGAN 3.5 MILES EAST OF THE MT. ZION AREA. THE
UPDATED TOUCHDOWN LCOATION WAS IN THE WESTERN FRINGE OF
WILLIAMSTOWN LAKE, ALONG PEACEFUL HOLLOW ROAD. DAMAGE IN THIS AREA
AND ACROSS THE LAKE WAS CONSISTENT WITH EF0 DAMAGE, WITH WINDS
ABOUT 75 TO 80 MPH. SEVERAL OUTBUILDINGS AND BARNS SUSTAINED ROOF
DAMAGE, AS WELL AS SOME ROOF DAMAGE TO HOMES.

THE TORNADO THEN CONTINUED INTO PENDLETON COUNTY, WITH THE FIRST
EVIDENCE OF TORNADIC DAMAGE IN PENDLETON COUNTY OCCURRING ALONG
HOGG RIDGE ROAD. THE TORNADO MOVED EAST-SOUTHEAST, PRODUCING
DAMAGE ALONG ITS PATH THAT IMPACTED WEST HIGHWAY 22, MORGAN 4 OAKS
ROAD, LIBERTY RIDGE ROAD, US 27, AND MCKINNEYSBURG ROAD. DAMAGE
INCLUDED THE DESTRUCTION OF SEVERAL BARNS AS WELL AS NUMEROUS 
TREES AND POWER POLES BEING SNAPPED OR KNOCKED DOWN. THE END OF 
THE DAMAGE OCCURRED ALONG MILFORD ROAD, WHERE DEBRIS FROM A 
DESTROYED BARN WAS THROWN INTO AN ADJACENT FIELD. BASED ON THIS 
DAMAGE, THIS TORNADO PRODUCED WINDS OF AROUND 100 MPH, AND IS 
RATED EF-1 ON THE ENHANCED FUJITA SCALE.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE GREATLY APPRECIATED THE SUPPORT AND
ASSISTANCE FROM PENDLETON COUNTY KENTUCKY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT 
AND GRANT COUNTY KENTUCKY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT WITH THESE 
FINDINGS.

EF SCALE: THE ENHANCED FUJITA SCALE CLASSIFIES TORNADOES INTO THE
FOLLOWING CATEGORIES:

EF0...WEAK......65 TO 85 MPH
EF1...WEAK......86 TO 110 MPH
EF2...STRONG....111 TO 135 MPH
EF3...STRONG....136 TO 165 MPH
EF4...VIOLENT...166 TO 200 MPH
EF5...VIOLENT...>200 MPH
