The extremely dangerous heat wave continues across the East Coast and much of the South-Central U.S. today. Record high temperatures are expected for some areas especially across the Mid-Atlantic where extreme heat risk conditions reside. Snow and Ice Event A surface low developed over the Central Plains on February 19th which strengthened as it accelerated northeast into the Ohio Valley. Strong upper level winds were in place ahead of the system with broad ascent along the warm front that eventually lifted north. A wintery mix of precipitation occurred with more ice and rain toward the south and mainly snow to the north. |
