Straight Line Wind Damage in Highland County, Ohio

OHIO...

The National Weather Service in Wilmington Ohio has completed a
storm damage survey in southwestern Highland County in Ohio. The
survey is in relation to severe thunderstorms that moved through
the area during the evening of April 5 2017.

Damage was observed at several locations near Buford in
southwestern Highland County. At a farm property on New Market
Road, a collection of grain bins was heavily damaged, with one bin
pulled down completely. At a residence on Beltz Road, a trailer
was completely destroyed by high winds. Wind speeds at these
locations were estimated to be 80 to 90 MPH.

Along Hereford Road, a storage garage was destroyed by the winds.
On Beltz Road, a propane tank was upended, and a large limb was
blown on a house. At other locations in the Buford area, a few 
trees were downed, with limbs downed in many locations. In 
general, most of southwestern Highland County is estimated to have 
received winds of 60 to 70 MPH.

Damage in this area is estimated to have occurred between 710 PM
and 718 PM.
