Public Information Statement National Weather Service Wilmington OH 404 PM EST Fri Mar 3 2017 ...Adams County Survey Reveals Non-Tornadic Wind Damage... A storm damage survey completed by the National Weather Service in Wilmington on Friday morning concluded that non-tornadic or straightline wind was responsible for the damage along Unity Road and Highway 247 in Adams County, just south of the Alexander Salamon Airport. In this area, damage consisted of four destroyed barns with roofing thrown well downwind of the damage sites. At one residence...a porch was removed from a residential home. On the west side of Highway 247, there was significant tree damage to a grove of trees. Nothing in the damage pattern was indicative of a tornado, and wind speeds were estimated around 90 mph given the tree and barn damage in the area. $$ Binau/Franks |
