High Winds

As a very strong area of low pressure moved northeast through the Great Lakes, a potent cold front raced east through the Ohio Valley. Because of the strength of the low pressure system, an intense pressure gradient developed, which led to very strong winds through Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio. The strongest winds occurred between 9AM and 3PM, with numerous gusts of around 50 MPH, and a few gusts to about 60 MPH. These wind gusts and damage reports are colored in yellow and orange on the map below.

In addition, a few thunderstorms and heavy showers also developed, moving east through the region between 8AM and 1130AM. Strong to severe wind reports associated with these storms are colored in blue.
