...SUMMARY...
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN WILMINGTON OH HAS CONFIRMED A
TORNADO ABOUT 3 MILES WEST SOUTHWEST OF NEWTONSVILLE IN CLERMONT
COUNTY OHIO ON 09/08/2012.

AN NWS DAMAGE SURVEY WAS CONDUCTED TODAY IN STONELICK TOWNSHIP IN
CLERMONT COUNTY. THE DAMAGE OCCURRED ALONG THE LEADING EDGE OF A 
LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS. WHILE THERE WERE SEVERAL TREES DOWN IN THE
PATH OF THIS STORM...MUCH OF THIS DAMAGE WAS INDICATIVE OF
STRAIGHT LINE WINDS.

WITHIN THE WIDER AREA OF SCATTERED WIND DAMAGE...THERE WAS
EVIDENCE OF A VERY BRIEF TORNADO TOUCHDOWN NEAR THE INTERSECTION
OF STATE ROUTE 131 AND BELFAST-OWENSVILLE ROAD. THERE WERE THREE
HOMES AND A GARAGE/BARN WITH MINOR TO MAJOR ROOF DAMAGE...AS WELL
AS A PORCH LIFTED FROM A HOME AND THROWN SEVERAL YARDS.

GIVEN THE TYPE OF ROOFING STRUCTURE AND DEGREE OF DAMAGE TO THE
HOMES...OUTBUILDINGS AND TREES...THIS DAMAGE IS CONSISTENT WITH
MID RANGE EF0 DAMAGE WITH ESTIMATED WIND SPEED AT ABOUT 70 TO 75 MPH.

FURTHER EAST-NORTHEAST OF THIS DAMAGE IN WAYNE TOWNSHIP...
ADDITIONAL DAMAGE OCCURRED WITHIN THE 6100 BLOCK OF TAYLOR PIKE.
SEVERAL HOMES HAD DAMAGE TO ROOFING SHINGLES AND FLASHING...WITH
THE GARAGE DOORS OF FOUR NORTH-FACING HOMES ALL BOWED OUTWARD. THIS
DAMAGE WAS MORE CONSISTENT WITH STRAIGHT LINE WINDS IN THAT THE
DAMAGE WIND DAMAGE WAS MORE IN A SINGULAR DIRECTION.

FOR REFERENCE...THE ENHANCED FUJITA SCALE CLASSIFIES TORNADOES INTO
THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES:

EF0...WIND SPEEDS 65 TO 85 MPH.
EF1...WIND SPEEDS 86 TO 110 MPH.
EF2...WIND SPEEDS 111 TO 135 MPH.
EF3...WIND SPEEDS 136 TO 165 MPH.
EF4...WIND SPEEDS 166 TO 200 MPH.
EF5...WIND SPEEDS GREATER THAN 200 MPH.
