PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WILMINGTON OH 346 PM EST THU MAR 8 2012 ...DAMAGE SOUTHWEST OF WINCHESTER IN BROWN COUNTY SURVEYED... A STORM SURVEY WAS COMPLETED TODAY IN THE AREA OF JOHN WOODS ROAD AND GREATHOUSE ROAD /EAST OF HIGHWAY 62/ IN NORTHEAST BROWN COUNTY WHERE INITIAL DAMAGE WAS INDICATED AS POSSIBLY CAUSED BY A TORNADO. THAT DAMAGE INCLUDED NUMEROUS TREES DOWN...POWER POLES DOWN...AND A CAMPER TRAILER FLIPPED. A SURVEY IN THE AREA CONFIRMED THAT SEVERAL TREES WERE DOWN...FENCES WERE BLOWN DOWN...AND THE POWER POLES HAD BEEN REPLACED...AS WELL AS AN OLD BARN COLLAPSED. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT NONE OF THIS DAMAGE WAS CAUSED BY A TORNADO...AND THE ESTIMATED STRAIGHT-LINE /NONTORNADIC/ WIND SPEEDS WERE APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH IN THIS AREA. $$ BINAU |
