THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN WILMINGTON OH HAS CONFIRMED STRAIGHT LINE WIND DAMAGE IN FAIRFIELD IN BULTER COUNTY OHIO ON MAY 26 2011. THE DAMAGE BEGAN IN AN AREA BOUNDED BY PARKLAND HILLS DR... BOEHM DR AND HEFFRON DR. NUMEROUS LARGE TREES WERE UPROOTED AND SNAPPED IN THIS AREA. SEVERAL CHIMNEYS NEAR PARKLAND HILLS DRIVE WERE DAMAGED OR BLOWN OFF. SEVERAL BULIDINGS HAD SIDING TORN AND SHINGLES BLOWN OFF... AND A 30X70 FOOT CARPORT COLLAPSED. THE WINDS THEN SPLIT A TREE MEASURING 5 FEET IN DIAMATER AT THE INTERSECTION OF OLD GILMORE RD AND SOUTH GILMORE RD. DAMAGE WAS NEXT OBSERVED AT A CAR DEALERSHIP AT THE INTERSECTION OF STATE ROUTE 4 AND OLD GILMORE RD. 20 CARS SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE AT THIS LOCATION. A POWER POLE WAS ALSO SNAPPED NEARBY. DAMAGE WAS ALSO OBSERVED AT A BOWLING ALLEY AT THE INTERSECTION OF STATE ROUTE 4 BETWEEN OLD GILMORE RD AND SOUTH GILMORE RD. A PORTION OF THE ROOF WAS TORN OPEN AT THIS LOCATION. ROOF DAMAGE ALSO OCCURRED AT A GAS STATION NEAR THE BOWLING ALLEY. SOME METAL FLASHING WAS DAMAGED AT ANOTHER CAR DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY WEST OF THE INTERSECTION OF STATE ROUTE 4 AND SOUTH GILMORE RD. FOR REFERENCE... STRAIGHT-LINE WINDS ARE GENERALLY ANY WIND THAT IS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH ROTATION...USED MAINLY TO DIFFERENTIATE THEM FROM TORNADIC WINDS. $$
