THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN WILMINGTON OH HAS CONFIRMED A TORNADO NEAR NEW CARLISLE IN CLARK COUNTY OHIO ON 04/27/2011. AN NWS STORM SURVEY TEAM CONFIRMED A LOW END EF0 TORNADO IN THE NEW CARLISLE AREA OF WESTERN CLARK COUNTY. THIS TORNADO DAMAGE WAS FOUND IN AN AREA WHICH ALSO INCURRED STRAIGHT LINE WIND DAMAGE. THE TORNADO WAS ALONG THE LEADING EDGE OF A LINE OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS. DAMAGE FROM THE TORNADO INCLUDED MOSTLY TREE DAMAGE...WITH PINE TREES UPROOTED AND SOME HARDWOOD TREES SNAPPED. THE INITIAL PATH OF THE TORNADO WAS DETERMINED TO BE NEAR THE NEW CARLISLE CEMETARY JUST SOUTH OF NEW CARLISLE ALONG ROUTE 235. SEVERAL TREES WERE SNAPPED OR UPROOTED IN THIS AREA. FURTHER TO THE NORTH NORTHEAST...AN RV DEALERSHIP ON THE EAST SIDE OF NEW CARLISLE EXPERIENCED DAMAGE WHEN A ROOF WAS PARTIALLY LIFTED OFF THE BUILDING. TWO BY FOUR ROOF SUPPORT BEAMS WERE DRIVEN INTO THE GROUND. IN THIS SAME AREA...LARGE DEBRIS WAS STREWN ABOUT A PUBLIC POOL COMPLEX...AS WELL AS SNAPPED TREES AND POLES. THE DAMAGE ENDED ON THE NORTHEAST SIDE OF NEW CARLISLE. STRAIGHT LINE WIND DAMAGE WAS ALSO CONFIRMED FURTHER TO THE SOUTH OF THE TORNADO DAMAGE...NEAR PARK LAYNE IN EXTREME SOUTHEAST MIAMI COUNTY. THIS DAMAGE WAS ALSO IN THE 70 MPH RANGE...AND INCLUDED UPROOTED TREES. THIS INFORMATION CAN ALSO BE FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE AT WEATHER.GOV/ILN.
