Heat Continues for the East and South-Central U.S.; Strong to Severe Storms Across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast

The extremely dangerous heat wave continues across the East Coast and much of the South-Central U.S. today. Record high temperatures are expected for some areas especially across the Mid-Atlantic where extreme heat risk conditions reside. ...NWS METEOROLOGISTS ARE CURRENTLY SURVEYING STORM DAMAGE NEAR
RICHWOOD IN BOONE COUNTY KENTUCKY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE IN WILMINGTON OH IS CURRENTLY
CONDUCTING A STORM SURVEY FOR THE AREA NEAR RICHWOOD IN BOONE COUNTY
KENTUCKY. THE SURVEY IS IN RELATION TO THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS THAT
MOVED THROUGH THE AREA ON 04/20/11.

A PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION INDICATES THAT THE DAMAGE IS THE
RESULT OF STRAIGHT LINE WINDS OF 80 TO 120 MPH. SOME OF THE 
DAMAGE INCLUDES NUMEROUS DOWNED TREES...THREE TRAILERS MOVED OFF
THEIR FOUNDATION AND MINOR DAMAGE AT THE I-71/I-75 REST AREA. 

A FINAL ASSESSMENT INCLUDING MORE RESULTS OF THE SURVEYED DAMAGE ARE
EXPECTED TO BE COMPLETED AND TRANSMITTED VIA A PUBLIC INFORMATION
STATEMENT LATER TODAY.
