THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN WILMINGTON OH HAS CONFIRMED A TORNADO NEAR TARLTON ALONG THE PICKAWAY...FAIRFIELD COUNTY LINE IN OHIO ON SEPTEMBER 16TH 2010. ADDITIONAL TORNADIC DAMAGE ASSOCIATED WITH THIS STORM WAS FOUND IN NORTHWEST HOCKING COUNTY NEAR MIDDLEFORK AND ELLIS ROADS. THE TORNADIC STORM DEVELOPED JUST WEST OF TARLTON AROUND 555 PM SEPTEMBER 16TH. THE INITIAL TOUCHDOWN WAS NEAR DOZER AND VALENTINE ROADS IN FAR SOUTHWEST FAIRFIELD COUNTY...WITH DAMAGE CONTINUING EASTWARD INTO THE TOWN OF TARLTON. IN THE DOZER AND VALENTINE ROAD AREA...TWO EMPTY GRAIN SILOS WERE PICKED UP AND TOSSED ABOUT 100 YARDS EAST SOUTHEASTWARD. SOME OF THE MECHANICAL WORKS FROM WITHIN THE SILO WERE RIPPED UP FROM THE FOUNDATION AND TOSSED ABOUT 10 TO 15 YARDS FROM THE SILOS. NO TREE DAMAGE OCCURRED IN THIS LOCATION. FURTHER TO THE EAST SOUTHEAST ALONG THE 11000 TO 12000 BLOCKS OF TARLTON ROAD, MORE SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE OCCURRED. NUMEROUS PINE AND HARDWOOD TREES WERE SNAPPED AND A FEW TREES WERE UPROOTED. A TREE BRANCH IMPALED THE SIDE OF A HOME, AND WAS DRIVEN THROUGH THE SIDING AND THE INTERIOR SHEETROCK. ROOF AND SIDING DAMAGE ALSO OCCURRED AT THIS LOCATION. AT THE NEIGHBORING PROPERTY TO THE EAST, UP TO 20 PERCENT OF THE ROOF WAS LIFTED AND WINDOWS HAD BEEN BLOWN OUT, AS WELL AS DAMAGE TO THE FLASHING AND SIDING. FURTHER EAST ALONG THE SOUTH SIDE OF TARLTON ROAD IN PICKAWAY COUNTY, ADDITIONAL STRUCTURAL AND TREE DAMAGE OCCURRED. WITHIN THE 12000 BLOCK OF TARLTON ROAD, A PARKED TRACTOR TRAILER WAS PUSHED ONTO ITS SIDE. A NEIGHBORING HOME SUFFERED SIGNIFICANT ROOF DAMAGE, IN THAT THE ROOF BECAME DETACHED FROM THE STRUCTURE BUT WAS NOT TORN AWAY. AWNING HAD BEEN TORN OFF THE DETACHED GARAGE, AND THE ENTIRE GARAGE STRUCTURE WAS LEANING SLIGHTLY. ADDITIONAL TREE DAMAGE OCCURRED FURTHER EAST ALONG TARLTON ROAD. ADDITIONAL TORNADIC DAMAGE WAS FOUND A FEW MILES FARTHER EAST IN NORTHWEST HOCKING COUNTY BETWEEN ELLIS AND MIDDLEFORK ROADS. THE ROOF OF A POLE BARN WAS LIFTED AND CARRIED AWAY WITH ROOF REMNANTS FOUND UP TO A QUARTER MILE AWAY. TWO WALLS OF THE BARN HAD COLLAPSED AND A NEARBY DUMPSTER WAS OVERTURNED. ADDITIONALLY, SIGNIFICANT TREE DAMAGE OCCURRED TO LARGE HARDWOODS IN THIS AREA AND FURTHER NORTHEAST ALONG MIDDLEFORK ROAD. MINOR ROOF DAMAGE OCCURRED TO A NEARBY HOME. TOTAL PATH WIDTH IS ESTIMATED AT ABOUT 200 YARDS. THIS DAMAGE WAS ALSO CONSISTENT WITH EF1 TYPE WINDS.
