PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WILMINGTON OH 843 PM EDT THU AUG 5 2010 ...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN WILMINGTON OHIO CONDUCTED AN AUGLAIZE COUNTY STORM DAMAGE SURVEY ON WEDNESDAY AUGUST 4 2010... A REPRESENTATIVE FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN WILMINGTON OHIO CONDUCTED A DAMAGE SURVEY IN AUGLAIZE COUNTY THIS AFTERNOON. THE DAMAGE OCCURRED WITH THUNDERSTORMS THAT MOVED THROUGH AUGLAIZE COUNTY ON WEDNESDAY...AUGUST 4TH 2010 AROUND MIDDAY. PRELIMINARY INDICATIONS ARE THAT THUNDERSTORMS MOVED THROUGH THE COUNTY PRODUCING STRAIGHT LINE WINDS IN THE 80 MPH TO 100 MPH RANGE. THE DAMAGE SURVEY WAS CONDUCTED IN THE NORTHERN PART OF AUGLAIZE COUNTY. THE MAJORITY OF INFORMATION AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME INDICATED THAT STRAIGHT LINE WINDS RESULTED IN SEVERAL BARNS BEING DAMAGED OR DESTROYED...SEVERAL SILOS WITH MAJOR DAMAGE OR DESTRUCTION...AN OLD BRICK SCHOOL BEING DESTROYED AND TREES DOWNED. $$ |
