Heat Continues for the East and South-Central U.S.; Strong to Severe Storms Across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast

The extremely dangerous heat wave continues across the East Coast and much of the South-Central U.S. today. Record high temperatures are expected for some areas especially across the Mid-Atlantic where extreme heat risk conditions reside. Unusually Cool Temperatures

The average temperatures across the region for July were four to six degrees below normal, which placed it among the top 5 coldest Julys on record for Cincinnati, Columbus and Dayton. For Cincinnati, this was the coldest July on record. Typically, the average July temperature for Cincinnati is 76.3, for Dayton is 74.3, and for Columbus is 75.1 degrees.

Final July Temperatures:

The average temperature at Cincinnati was 70.1 degrees, or 6.2 degrees below normal. This was the coldest July on record.

The average temperature at Dayton was 69.6 degrees, or 4.7 degrees below normal. This was the 2nd coldest July on record.

The average temperature at Columbus was 71.0 degrees, or 4.1 degrees below normal. This tied for the 4th coldest July on record.
