EF0 Tornado in Butler County

PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WILMINGTON OH

...EF0 TORNADO CONFIRMED IN NORTHWEST BUTLER COUNTY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN WILMINGTON HAS DETERMINED THAT 
DAMAGE SOUTHWEST OF OXFORD IN NORTHWEST BUTLER COUNTY WAS CAUSED BY 
A WEAK TORNADO TUESDAY EVENING...JUNE 3 BETWEEN 9 PM AND 910 PM. THE 
DAMAGE WAS CONFINED TO A FARM ON THE NORTH SIDE OF KING ROAD ABOUT 
THREE MILES SOUTHWEST OF OXFORD. THE HOMEOWNER WITNESSED THE TORNADO 
APPROACHING AS IT CAUSED TREE DAMAGE ALONG THE TREE LINE TO THE 
NORTHWEST OF THE PROPERTY. A FEW TREES AND LARGE LIMBS WERE ALSO 
KNOCKED DOWN ACROSS THE PROPERTY. AN ADJACENT OLDER HOUSE HAD ITS 
ROOF REMOVED. A WELL BUILT AND FAIRLY NEW BARN HAD HALF OF ITS ROOF 
PEELED OFF IN A NORTH-SOUTH DIRECTION. A LARGE METAL DOOR ON THE 
WEST SIDE OF THE BARN WAS RIPPED OFF AND BLOWN 25 YARDS TO THE NORTH 
BEFORE WRAPPING AROUND THE NORTH SIDE OF AN ADJACENT SILO.  METAL 
SIDING FROM THE BARN WAS ALSO REMOVED AND FOUND SEVERAL YARDS TO THE 
EAST OF THE BARN NEAR THE EDGE OF THE PROPERTY. THE HOMEOWNER...WHO 
TOOK SHELTER AFTER WITNESSING THE INITIAL DAMAGE IN THE TREE 
LINE...INDICATED THAT THE TORNADO CAME THROUGH IN ABOUT 15 SECONDS.  
THIS TORNADO HAS BEEN RATED AN EF0 ON THE ENHANCED FUJITA SCALE WITH 
WIND SPEEDS ESTIMATED AROUND 75 MPH.
