Straight-Line Wind Damage in Brown and Clermont Counties

PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WILMINGTON OH

...STRAIGHT LINE WIND DAMAGE CONFIRMED IN NORTHERN CLERMONT
AND NORTHERN BROWN COUNTIES...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN WILMINGTON HAS DETERMINED THAT
DAMAGE IN GOSHEN AND WAYNE TOWNSHIPS IN CLERMONT COUNTY
AND IN PERRY TOWNSHIP IN BROWN COUNTY WERE CAUSED BY STRAIGHT LINE
WINDS.

DAMAGE VIEWED INCLUDED LOSS OF LARGE SECTIONS OF ROOF SHINGLES...A
GARAGE DOOR BLOWN IN...MANY LARGE TREES EITHER SPLIT OR UPROOTED...
WITH SOME TREES CAUSING SEVERE DAMAGE TO HOMES.

THE WORST SEVERE HOME DAMAGE COINCIDED WITH THE LOCATION WITH
THE GREATEST NUMBER OF FALLEN TREES...IN GOSHEN TOWNSHIP IN
CLERMONT COUNTY.

DAMAGE IN WAYNE TOWNSHIP OCCURRED MAINLY NEAR AND NORTH OF STONELICK
STATE PARK. THIS DAMAGE CONSISTED OF LARGE TREES EITHER SPLIT OR
WITH LARGE BRANCHES DOWN...AS WELL AS A LARGE MOVABLE SIGN BEING
TOSSED ACROSS THE ROAD INTO THE SIDE OF A HOME.

FURTHER EAST IN BROWN COUNTY...NUMEROUS LARGE TREES WERE EITHER
UPROOTED OR SPLIT...WITH MANY HOMES HAVING SHINGLES TORN OFF. THE
ROOF OF A HOME PORCH WAS ALSO TORN OFF AND TOSSED TO THE OTHER SIDE
OF THE HOME. THE HOME SUSTAINING THE GARAGE DOOR DAMAGE ALSO OCCURRED
IN PERRY TOWNSHIP IN BROWN COUNTY.

DAMAGE IN BOTH AREAS WAS FAIRLY CONSISTENTLY IN AN EASTERLY
DIRECTION.
