Straight-Line Wind in Adams and Clermont Counties

...STRAIGHT LINE WIND DAMAGE CONFIRMED IN NORTHEAST ADAMS
COUNTY AND CLERMONT COUNTY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CONDUCTED A STORM DAMAGE SURVEY THIS
MORNING AT MINERAL SPRINGS LAKE IN NORTHEAST ADAMS COUNTY.

BASED ON EYEWITNESS ACCOUNTS...IT SOUNDS LIKE THE STORM DID HAVE A
WALL CLOUD. HOWEVER...THE DAMAGE WAS CONSISTENT WITH STRAIGHT LINE
WINDS. EYEWITNESSES REPORTED THE DAMAGE OCCURRED BETWEEN 315 PM AND
330 PM SUNDAY AFTERNOON...JULY 15TH.

SEVERAL LARGE TREES WERE UPROOTED AND SNAPPED. THE DAMAGE FELL IN
THE SAME GENERAL DIRECTION ALONG A 3/4 MILE PATH THAT WAS 50 TO 60
YARDS WIDE. THE WINDS WERE ESTIMATED TO BE BETWEEN 80 AND 100 MPH.

NO INJURIES OR FATALITIES WERE CAUSED BY THE STRAIGHT LINE WINDS.

IN ADDITION...EMA AND FIRE OFFICIALS HAVE CONFIRMED THAT STRAIGHT
LINE WINDS CAUSED THE DAMAGE THAT OCCURRED NEAR AMELIA IN CLERMONT
COUNTY SUNDAY AFTERNOON...JULY 15TH.
