PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WILMINGTON OH 240 PM EDT THU OCT 5 2006 ...DAMAGE SURVEY CONDUCTED IN FAYETTE COUNTY OHIO... THE WILMINGTON NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORECAST OFFICE CONDUCTED A STORM DAMAGE SURVEY IN FAYETTE COUNTY OHIO TODAY. THE DAMAGE WAS A RESULT OF STORMS THAT MOVED THROUGH THE AREA WEDNESDAY EVENING... OCTOBER 4. DAMAGE OCCURRED AT A LOCATION ABOUT 3 AND 1/2 MILES SOUTHEAST OF JEFFERSONVILLE AT ABOUT 540 PM TO 545 PM EDT YESTERDAY. THE DAMAGE INCLUDED A ROOF RIPPED OFF A MOBILE HOME AND MORE MINOR DAMAGE TO A NUMBER OF OTHER MOBILE HOMES. TREES WERE DOWNED OR DAMAGED IN THE AREA AS WELL. THE SURVEY...COMBINED WITH RADAR INFORMATION...INDICATES THAT THE STORM PRODUCED A DOWNBURST. THIS DOWNBURST CAUSED THE DAMAGE. THE WINDS WITH THE STORM WERE ESTIMATED TO BE AROUND 70 MPH. $$ |
