Heat Continues for the East and South-Central U.S.; Strong to Severe Storms Across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast

The extremely dangerous heat wave continues across the East Coast and much of the South-Central U.S. today. Record high temperatures are expected for some areas especially across the Mid-Atlantic where extreme heat risk conditions reside. ...DAMAGE SURVEY CONDUCTED IN FAYETTE COUNTY OHIO...

THE WILMINGTON NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORECAST OFFICE CONDUCTED A
STORM DAMAGE SURVEY IN FAYETTE COUNTY OHIO TODAY. THE DAMAGE WAS A
RESULT OF STORMS THAT MOVED THROUGH THE AREA WEDNESDAY EVENING...
OCTOBER 4. DAMAGE OCCURRED AT A LOCATION ABOUT 3 AND 1/2 MILES
SOUTHEAST OF JEFFERSONVILLE AT ABOUT 540 PM TO 545 PM EDT YESTERDAY.
THE DAMAGE INCLUDED A ROOF RIPPED OFF A MOBILE HOME AND MORE MINOR
DAMAGE TO A NUMBER OF OTHER MOBILE HOMES. TREES WERE DOWNED OR
DAMAGED IN THE AREA AS WELL. THE SURVEY...COMBINED WITH RADAR
INFORMATION...INDICATES THAT THE STORM PRODUCED A DOWNBURST. THIS
DOWNBURST CAUSED THE DAMAGE. THE WINDS WITH THE STORM WERE ESTIMATED
TO BE AROUND 70 MPH.
