PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WILMINGTON OH 401 PM EDT TUE AUG 29 2006 ...F0 TORNADO CONFIRMED IN SOUTHERN MERCER COUNTY... A DAMAGE SURVEY WAS CONDUCTED IN MERCER COUNTY THIS AFTERNOON AND AN F0 TORNADO WAS CONFIRMED. THE TORNADO OCCURRED AROUND 920 PM MONDAY EVENING...AUGUST 28TH...ABOUT 2 MILES SOUTHWEST OF ST HENRY. THE PATH LENGTH WAS 3/4 MILE AND THE WIDTH WAS AROUND 60 YARDS. A HOUSE NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF POST ROAD AND FT RECOVERY MINSTER ROAD HAD SOME ROOF TILE DAMAGE. SOME TREE BRANCHES WERE ALSO DOWNED. OVERALL...THE DAMAGE WAS VERY MINOR...PRIMARILY AFFECTING CORN AND BEAN CROPS. THE DAMAGE WAS CONSISTENT WITH AN F0 TORNADO. F0 WIND SPEEDS RANGE FROM 40 TO 72 MPH. $$ |
