Heat Continues for the East and South-Central U.S.; Strong to Severe Storms Across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast

The extremely dangerous heat wave continues across the East Coast and much of the South-Central U.S. today. Record high temperatures are expected for some areas especially across the Mid-Atlantic where extreme heat risk conditions reside. ...F0 TORNADO CONFIRMED IN SOUTHERN MERCER COUNTY...

A DAMAGE SURVEY WAS CONDUCTED IN MERCER COUNTY THIS AFTERNOON AND
AN F0 TORNADO WAS CONFIRMED. THE TORNADO OCCURRED AROUND 920 PM MONDAY
EVENING...AUGUST 28TH...ABOUT 2 MILES SOUTHWEST OF ST HENRY. THE
PATH LENGTH WAS 3/4 MILE AND THE WIDTH WAS AROUND 60 YARDS.

A HOUSE NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF POST ROAD AND FT RECOVERY
MINSTER ROAD HAD SOME ROOF TILE DAMAGE. SOME TREE BRANCHES WERE
ALSO DOWNED. OVERALL...THE DAMAGE WAS VERY MINOR...PRIMARILY
AFFECTING CORN AND BEAN CROPS. THE DAMAGE WAS CONSISTENT WITH AN
F0 TORNADO. F0 WIND SPEEDS RANGE FROM 40 TO 72 MPH.
