PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WILMINGTON OH 122 PM EDT TUE AUG 29 2006 ...F0 TORNADO CONFIRMED IN WESTERN AUGLAIZE COUNTY... A DAMAGE SURVEY WAS CONDUCTED IN AUGLAIZE COUNTY EARLIER TODAY AND AN F0 TORNADO WAS CONFIRMED. THE TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN IN NEW KNOXVILLE AROUND 10 PM EDT MONDAY EVENING...AUGUST 28TH. THE PATH LENGTH EXTENDED EAST FOR ABOUT 3/4 MILE AND THE GREATEST WIDTH WAS AROUND 300 YARDS. SEVERAL TREES WERE DOWNED AND MINOR DAMAGE OCCURRED TO NUMEROUS HOMES. SOME DEBRIS LANDED ON THE RUNWAY AT THE NEIL ARMSTRONG AIRPORT. THE DAMAGE WAS CONSISTENT WITH AN F0 TORNADO. F0 WIND SPEEDS RANGE FROM 40 TO 72 MPH. $$ |
