PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WILMINGTON OH
347 PM EDT THU JUL 13 2006

...ADDITIONAL DETAILS ON THE NORTHERN CLERMONT TORNADO...

THE INITIAL TOUCHDOWN OCCURRED TWO MILES EAST OF MILFORD IN AN OPEN
FIELD. A SECOND TOUCHDOWN OCCURRED JUST TO THE WEST OF GOSHEN.

NEAR GOSHEN...THERE WAS A TRAILER SHIFTED A FEW INCHES OFF ITS
FOUNDATION ON DEERFIELD ROAD. IN THE VICINITY OF PHOENIX DRIVE AND
SNIDER ROAD TWO BUSINESSES WERE DAMAGED. ONE BUSINESS HAD A
LARGE DOOR BLOWN OUT...A FEW TREES WERE DOWNED...AND SOME HEAVY
INVENTORY SHIFTED. THE SECOND BUSINESS HAD ITS ROOF LIFTED WITH
SHINGLES AND WATER DEPOSITED INSIDE BEFORE THE ROOF WAS RETURNED TO
ITS ORIGINAL POSITION. THE ABOVE DAMAGE WAS CLASSIFIED AS AN F0.

IN THE VICINITY OF ST. RT. 48 JUST SOUTH OF ST. RT. 28 THERE
WAS A PATH THREE-QUARTERS OF A MILE LONG AND 350 YARDS WIDE WITH
EXTENSIVE F1 DAMAGE. THIS DAMAGE CONSISTED OF NUMEROUS HEALTHY
TREES...UP TO THREE FEET IN DIAMETER...BROKEN OFF OR UPROOTED. THE
TREES FELL IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS. IN A CEMETERY...TOMBSTONES WERE
KNOCKED DOWN IN OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS. PROPERTY ACROSS THE STREET AND
ADJACENT TO THE CEMETERY HAD NUMEROUS LARGE HEALTHIER TREES DOWNED
IN ALL DIRECTIONS WITH STRUCTURE DAMAGE TO THE ROOFS. NUMEROUS LARGE
TREES WERE BLOWN DOWN IN THE VICINITY OF A POND. A ROOF WAS DAMAGED
TO A NEARBY GARAGE.

THE TORNADO THEN WEAKENED WITH SEVERAL DOWNED TREES LEADING UP TO
ST. RT. 48 WEST OF GOSHEN.

F1 DAMAGE RELATES TO 73 TO 112 MPH. F0 DAMAGE RELATES TO 40
TO 72 MPH.
