Tornadoes In Carlisle & Miami Township

PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WILMINGTON OH
1202 PM EDT WED JUL 12 2006

...TWO TORNADOES CONFIRMED IN CARLISLE AND MIAMI TOWNSHIP...

AN EXAMINATION OF DAMAGE WAS CONDUCTED FROM A STORM WHICH OCCURRED
TUESDAY EVENING JULY 11 IN WARREN AND MONTGOMERY COUNTIES.

AN INITIAL TORNADO TOUCHDOWN OCCURRED IN NORTHWEST WARREN COUNTY IN
FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP. THE TORNADO CONTINUED ON A PATH OF APPROXIMATELY
4 TO 5 MILES INTO THE CITY OF CARLISLE ENDING NEAR ROUTE 123.
MINOR DAMAGE TO SEVERAL HOMES AND A BUSINESS OCCURRED ALONG WITH
NUMEROUS TREES UPROOTED AND KNOCKED DOWN. THE DAMAGE WAS
PREDOMINANTLY F0 WITH EVIDENCE OF F1 DAMAGE IN CARLISLE. F1 WINDS
SPEEDS ARE FROM 73 TO 112 MPH.

A SECOND TOUCHDOWN OCCURRED IN MIAMI TOWNSHIP IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY.
THIS TOUCHDOWN LASTED APPROXIMATELY THREE QUARTERS OF A MILE WITH
MINOR DAMAGE TO A STRIP MALL...A CARPET BUSINESS AND A
RESTAURANT/COMEDY CLUB. MINOR DAMAGE OCCURRED AT A MUNICIPAL BUS
OUTLET WITH A FEW TREES DOWNED ALSO. ONCE AGAIN THE DAMAGE WAS
PREDOMINANTLY F0 WITH EVIDENCE OF F1 DAMAGE.
