The remnants of Hurricane Sally brought heavy rainfall and a few tornadoes to Northeast South Carolina and Southeast North Carolina on September 17th 2020

The tornado touched down in the wooded area just south of Diamond
Head Loop in southeast Florence County, and traveled NNE while
creating scattered tree damage. The tornado then flipped a metal
carport adjacent to Old River Rd before lifting.

...Summary...
The tornado was first observed by the public touching down in a
field north of Sardis Hwy, but east of Dogwood Road. The tornado
emerged from the Sparrow Swamp and caused some damage to a single
wide and double wide along Twin Bridge Rd. The tornado crossed S.
Hill Rd then across open fields until it reached E. Twin Church
Rd where it caused some tree damage. The tornado then paralleled
Young Rd before crossing I-95 near Honda Way. The tornado
dissipated north of Honday Way near the Lake Swamp. One
individual was injuried at Twin Bridge Rd within 15 minutes of
the tornado as he was clearing debris from a mobile home.

...Summary...
An EF0 tornado skipped northeastward across Racine Drive
between College Acres Drive and New Center Drive. The
tornado pulled pieces of sheathing off two apartment
buildings at Clear Run Apartments (405 Racine Drive)
and across the street at Campus Edge Apartments (450
Racine Drive). The tornado appeared to skip and only touched
down twice briefly.

Also, several roof shingles were upturned on the roof at 405
Racine Drive. Both roofs were old and had been patched from
past hurricanes. Other apartment complexes in the area with
new roofs had no damage.

A mailbox stand was overturned at Clear Run Apartments. The
stand was not fastened to the concrete pad.

The tornado formed near W. Craftsman Way and dissipated after
damaging a few homes in the area near a pond at the end of N.
Lamplighter Walk. Otherwise, some large limbs were snapped and
fences were snapped in multiple directions between N. Lamplighter
Walk and W. Craftsman Way.
