A LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS CROSSED INTO NORTHERN HORRY COUNTY AT APPROXIMATELY 1020 PM FRIDAY EVENING. A NORTH-SOUTH SWATH OF DAMAGE WAS FOUND CROSSING STATE ROUTE 9 NEAR DUFORD. DAMAGE WAS MAINLY IN THE FORM OF LARGE SNAPPED TREES AND PEELED OFF ALUMINUM ROOFING FROM SHEDS AND BARNS. THIS DAMAGE...WHICH IS CONSISTENT WITH WIND SPEEDS RANGING FROM 60 TO 90 MPH...WAS SCATTERED FROM JUST NORTH OF STATE ROUTE 9 FROM MOUNT OLIVE CHURCH ROAD TO BAY VIEW DRIVE. GREEN SEA FLOYDS HIGH SCHOOL ALSO HAD SOME MINOR ROOF DAMAGE, BROKEN WINDOWS, AND SEVERAL TREES DOWN.

A SMALL AREA OF MORE CONCENTRATED DAMAGE OCCURRED ALONG MOUNT OLIVE CHURCH ROAD BETWEEN BILLY MC ROAD AND FAIRVIEW HIGHWAY. AT THIS LOCATION A MOBILE HOME WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED AND SUBSTANTIALLY LARGER TREES WERE SNAPPED. SUCH DAMAGE INDICATORS ARE SUGGESTIVE OF WIND SPEEDS RANGING FROM 95 TO 109 MPH. THE MOBILE HOME DAMAGE IN ADDITION TO ALL FELLED TREES AND PEELED ROOFS WERE UNIVERSALLY IN THE EXACT SAME DIRECTION...FROM THE NORTH-NORTHWEST TO SOUTH-SOUTHEAST. THIS SUGGESTS NO EVIDENCE OF ANY ROTATION AND THE DAMAGE HAS BEEN DETERMINED TO BE THE RESULT OF AS STRAIGHT LINE WINDS. WIND SPEEDS UP TO 109 MPH ARE COMPARABLE TO THOSE OF AN EF1 TORNADO.
