There is a 20% Probability of Lightning with the incoming storms through Saturday. A few storms could produce strong wind gusts, downpours and accumulating small hail.
An unusual late April storm will bring rain and mountain snow, mostly on Saturday. Foothills, Sierra Nevada and Coastal Ranges will see the most precipitation, whereas the south central valley will be a dry spot as is typical.
Snow in late April is not uncommon. However, keep in mind that most of the precipitation is expected during the daylight hours on Saturday. Much of the snow could melt on contact with the surface, or not remain on the ground very long before melting. Any thunderstorms in the high Sierra could result in accumulation of small hail.
Winds can gust to 55 mph or greater in eastern Kern County along Highways 178, 58, 14 and 395 through Sunday night.
Best Case and Worst Case scenario for rainfall. Some locations will see the smaller amounts and a few locations, under thunderstorms, have a 10% Probability of the higher amounts or more.
