Weather Forecast Office
For the first time in over 15 years, the NOAA Weather Radio system received an upgrade. A new computer system is being used to generate audio recordings of the forecasts, observations, watches, and warnings which are routinely heard over the air. The actual broadcast programming will remain unchanged, and there is nothing you need to change on your radio to continue receiving warnings, watches, and forecasts from the National Weather Service. But listeners may notice that messages are being read in a different voice.
The National Weather Service in Green Bay transitioned to the new system on July 19.
Once again, no change is being made to the kinds of programming that will be heard on NOAA Weather Radio transmitters. Watches and warnings will continue to activate receivers as before. If you have comments regarding the quality of the voice, including mispronounced words, feel free to share them with the National Weather Service in Green Bay by posting a message on our Facebook or Twitter pages or by calling 1-920-494-2363. Thank you for using NOAA Weather Radio!
