Tracking Two Storms Impacting the Northern U.S. Through Thanksgiving and into This Weekend

Heavy lake effect snow and gusty winds, including some local blizzard conditions, will continue into Thanksgiving Day across the Great Lakes then lingering through Friday night for Lakes Erie and Ontario. A Dense Fog Advisory continues for central Phillips county through noon on Thanksgiving. Expect visibility under a quarter mile at times, particularly along the Highway 2 corridor. There is moderate potential for expansion of this dense fog area further east later tonight.
Snow totals for Thanksgiving day into Friday night are increasing and shifting northward. Current forecasted totals are 5" to 9" across much of north central Montana and higher in the mountains. Monitor the forecast if you are planning to travel Thursday and Friday.
The coldest temperatures of this winter season so far will occur this weekend. The coldest time period will be Saturday night into Sunday morning with widespread subzero temperatures likely.
