Heavy to excessive rainfall may produce additional flash flooding Wednesday across parts of the southern Plains where the greatest risk is along the Red River Valley into western Arkansas. The satellite image below shows the next weather disturbance moving into the region early Wednesday morning. Light snow was spreading across northeast Utah Wednesday morning and across northwest Colorado through the afternoon. Snow will largely diminish by sunset this evening.
This system isn't expected to generate much snowfall as shown in the image below which depicts the total forecast snowfall accumulation. Amounts will generally range from 1 to 3 inches, mainly in the Elkhead and Park Ranges.
Despite the passage of this disturbance, temperatures will be near climate normal this afternoon. Snow level will be around 6000 feet this afternoon across northwest Colorado.
Expect seasonably warm and sunny conditions on Thursday as high pressure builds in from the west.
