Using the weather.gov/gjt website, you can create your own forecast for a specific area. Why would you want to do this? Say you were heading to the mountains for a hike, you can create a forecast for the hike you’ll go on. You plan on going skiing over the weekend. What will the forecast be for the ski resort? The following guide will show you how to use our website and get those forecasts.

First, click on the "Forecasts" section of our website. A drop-down menu will then appear. Click on the 5TH entry from the top called "User-Defined Area Forecast".

Instructions on how to create your own forecast are on the left. To retirerate, left click on the map and place the marker that appears. You must have at least 3 markers to make an area. You can also include elevation limits. To set the limits, use the drop-down menus found above the map. Once your area is defined, click on the "Get Area Forecast" button beneath the map. The following is an example of a user-defined forecast for the Grand Mesa.
