Post-Tropical Cyclone Helene Continues to Weaken; Critical Fire Weather Concerns in the Plains

Post-Tropical Cyclone Helene continues to weaken; however, moderate to heavy rainfall and flooding will continue through Monday over parts of the Ohio/Tennessee Valleys and portions of the Appalachians and Mid-Atlantic States. NWS is extending the comment period for the Experimental National Geographic Information System (GIS) Map Viewer (“the Viewer”) web application hosted on the Amazon Web Services public cloud through May 27, 2022. The following notification  and news article contain more information. The Viewer is also embedded below.

Many of the National Weather Service data sets are available in formats that are able to be imported directly into Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or your own custom map viewers or web pages.  Data formats include downloadable shapefiles and KML formats, web services, and our basemaps in shapefile format.
