Severe Thunderstorms, Excessive Rain and Heat Hazards

A Moderate Risk of severe thunderstorms (level 4 of 5) is in the outlook across portions of the Midwest today. Damaging winds, a few tornadoes and frequent lightning with heavy rainfall are in the forecast. Meanwhile, dangerous heat across the southern Plains into the Great Lakes, mid-Atlantic and Northeast will expand into Friday. Risk for wildfires for the central Rockies and Sacramento Valley. NWS Hastings – Regional Weather Summary Product Discontinuation

Effective, Monday, July 1, 2024, the Hastings, NE NWS Weather Forecast Office will discontinue issuance of the Regional Weather Summary (RWS) product. The last RWS product will be issued during the late afternoon of June 30, 2024.

The information contained within the RWS can be obtained through other NWS Hastings products, such as the Area Forecast Discussion (AFD), social media (X/Twitter and Facebook), the Weather Story and Graphicasts.
