Overview
Storms produced severe weather within portions of the southern Red River Valley into portions of northwest and west-central Minnesota on July 13, 2023. This included significant hail ranging from golf balls in the Fargo-Moorhead metro area to tennis and baseball sized hail southeast of Moorhead, MN, near Sabin into lakes country of west-central Minnesota. The main culprits for severe weather were supercell thunderstorms that tracked from eastern North Dakota into west-central Minnesota during the afternoon and evening hours bringing widespread large hail and occasionally damaging wind to many in their path.Photos & Video
This video showing significant hail up to the size of baseballs was sent to the National Weather Service in Grand Forks, North Dakota, by Joshua Ebert of Downer, Minnesota (or around 14 miles southeast of Moorhead). This hail was produced by a supercell thunderstorm on July 13, 2023. |
