Overview

Freezing drizzle occurred briefly in locations along and north of Highway 2 on the North Dakota side during the evening hours on Jan 31st. Drizzle transitioned to snow showers, with accumulations up to 2 inches across highway 2 toward Lake of the Woods. As a cold front approached the region early morning on Feb 1st conditions deteriorated as winds began to gust toward 60-70mph across northeastern North Dakota. Lower amounts of 50-60mph where reported into western MN and southern portions of the Red River Valley. Blizzard conditions affected eastern North Dakota and the valley section of Minnesota through the morning hours on Feb 1st. Travel was not advised through northeastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota. Conditions began to improve by the early afternoon. Numerous schools and offices closed on Feb 1st.
