Rain Showers and Gusty Winds Coming to the Mid-Atlantic; Remaining Unseasonably Warm in the Central U.S.

Low pressure will track slowly northwestward into the Mid-Atlantic region through midweek bringing a risk for excessive rainfall, gusty winds, shallow coastal flooding, rip currents, and large surf. Subject: Flood Stage Will Change for the Russian River near Hopland (HOPC1)

Effective Friday November 1st, 2019, the National Weather Service will change the flood stage on the Russian River near Hopland from 21 feet to 15 feet. Evaluations of flood events from last winter confirmed that minor flooding occurs on the Russian near Hopland when the river stage reaches 15 feet. The impacts at 15 feet include flooding of Highway 175 and adjacent farmland. Please take note of the following:

  • Flood warnings will be issued when Russian River near Hopland reaches or surpasses 15 feet
  • Flood advisories will no longer be issued for this river point
  • Monitor Stage will be removed from this river point
  • Moderate flood stage (23 feet) and major flood stage (26 feet) will remain the same
