National Weather Service United States Department of Commerce

The beginning of meteorological spring brought accumulating snowfall to Southeast Michigan along a mid-level frontal boundary.  Some light snow was observed during the morning of March 1st, but accumulations were limited to a dusting at most.  Snowfall intensified during the afternoon hours of the 1st and peaked in intensity during the late evening hours into the early overnight hours of the 2nd.   Snowfall ended from the early morning hours of the 2nd to shortly after sunrise.  Snowfall totals ranged from 3" to 4.5" from the I-69 corridor to the Ohio border.  The highest snowfall totals of 4" to 4.5" were measured from Livingston County to southern Wayne County and across portions of Lenawee and Monroe Counties.  Snowfall diminished to the north, with much of Midland and Bay Counties seeing less than an inch.
