Overview

A cold front interacted with the northern expanses of a second system lifting northeast out of the southern Plains on Friday January 10th, 2025.  Overall forcing was not too strong and flake size was on the small size but a long duration made up for it and resulting in a widespread 2-3 inches of accumulation across Southeast Michigan which was centered around the evening commute. A few locations came in just under 2 inches and a couple locations around the Detroit Metro area got up into the 3-4 inch range. Bulk of the snow tapered off shortly after midnight as the trough axis passed through, but some light snow showers continued through most of the overnight.
