Several rounds of thunderstorms impacted Southeast Michigan (mainly north of the I-96/696 corridor) late in the night of July 25th into the early morning hours of July 26th. While some severe weather occured with these storms, the main impact was torrential rain. This rain was actually benneficial since much of the area has been in a moderate to severe drought following the extreme heat and dry weather that has dominated since late May.
Below is the radar estimated storm total rainfall. Note the large swath of rainfall amounts in the one to two inch range.
