 Overview

Southeast Michigan continued to see an active winter weather pattern on the first day of February as an area of low pressure moved through the Ohio valley bringing both snow and rain to the area.  The warm front associated with this system moved north across lower Michigan early Saturday, allowing for temperatures to approach freezing and in southern areas of the county warning area (CWA), temperatures rose above freezing.  Precipitation started as all snow before changing over to all rain in locations mainly south of Detroit.  Areas just north of Detroit saw a mix of rain, snow, and sleet.  Snow ratios were low with this event due to the warmer air advecting in and as a result this kept the snowfall totals down.  The highest snowfall totals were seen along a line from Ann Arbor/Howell areas to Port Huron.
