Responsible for managing NWS central processing systems, ensuring the flow of information from the collection of observations to central guidance production to local applications of all weather and climate data products, and ensuring the ensuring the continuity of public watches and warnings. In addition, he provides strategic direction and manages the allocation of resources for the Weather and Climate Operational Supercomputing System, the Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS), hydrology information technology initiatives, and the information technology infrastructure supporting NWS national centers and field operations.

This group lays out the future of AWIPS and makes sure it meets the NOAA mission. Also, they manage the budget of AWIPS, leads technical evaluations, and annually assesses the security of AWIPS.

AWIPS Operations & Management Manager 

James "Jim" Glenn
 

This group oversees the day-to-day operations of AWIPS (maintenance, local sites, software updates, security patching, and equipment) and manages the AWIPS Network Control Facility (NCF). O&M is a comprehensive provider of software and hardware maintenance of all NWS Regional Headquarters (WFOs, National Centers from Environmental Prediction (NCEP), and RFCs.

AWIPS Product Improvement Manager

 The Technology, Engineering and Application Management (TEAM) team establishes, manages and maintains the AWIPS Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Project Management (PM) processes for the AWIPS baseline software, additional software tools and cloud environments. The TEAM assists in the deployment of the software and configuration to all NWS sites to support forecasting and decision support functions.
